Message From the Principal and Deputy Principal
We wish to extend a very warm welcome to those students who are considering attending Gallen Community School. We are cognisant that identifying the right secondary school for your child is one of the most important decisions that you will make in terms of his/her education. We hope that reading this website will help you make that choice.
Our aim in Gallen Community School is to provide a high-quality learning environment. We constantly strive for excellence in learning and teaching by providing a rich and diverse curriculum that caters for the needs of each individual. The school also provides a vast range of educational experiences that will both stimulate and challenge your child. We are committed to the development and care of each and every student. A strong emphasis is placed on the personal and social development of all our students through the provision of a wide range of after-school activities with all students actively encouraged to participate.
We are very aware of the importance of a smooth transition for prospective students from primary to secondary school. In this regard, first year students are supported from their first day in school by a dedicated and committed staff. We strive every day to maintain a happy, caring and respectful atmosphere where all students and staff can achieve their full potential. We believe that every pupil is unique and that it is our task to enable all students to reach their potential as an individual whilst also encouraging them to respect the differences of others in the community.
During their time in our school we will endeavour to ensure that each pupil will have developed into a self-confident young person, ready to take their place in society. We look forward to meeting you and your child when you visit the school whether it is on Open Night, during many of our high-profile activities and events or at information evenings. If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school. We would be delighted to answer your questions.

Music students recently had the opportunity to record their own music at @TUS_Athlone_ .All the students thoroughly enjoyed this unique experience which was made possible thanks to Michael O’Dowd who went above and beyond to ensure that the students had everything they needed.
Well done to our Student Council who have organised the administration of International Student Identity Cards for many of our pupils. Thanks to Ms. McDermott for all her work with Gallen Community School Student Council.
Gallen Community School Cluny Centre marked World Down Syndrome Day earlier this week with a number of fun activities. The event is always a very special time in our school calendar each year. Thanks to the students and staff for continuing to make it such a memorable experience
