Message From the Principal and Deputy Principal
We wish to extend a very warm welcome to those students who are considering attending Gallen Community School. We are cognisant that identifying the right secondary school for your child is one of the most important decisions that you will make in terms of his/her education. We hope that reading this website will help you make that choice.
Our aim in Gallen Community School is to provide a high-quality learning environment. We constantly strive for excellence in learning and teaching by providing a rich and diverse curriculum that caters for the needs of each individual. The school also provides a vast range of educational experiences that will both stimulate and challenge your child. We are committed to the development and care of each and every student. A strong emphasis is placed on the personal and social development of all our students through the provision of a wide range of after-school activities with all students actively encouraged to participate.
We are very aware of the importance of a smooth transition for prospective students from primary to secondary school. In this regard, first year students are supported from their first day in school by a dedicated and committed staff. We strive every day to maintain a happy, caring and respectful atmosphere where all students and staff can achieve their full potential. We believe that every pupil is unique and that it is our task to enable all students to reach their potential as an individual whilst also encouraging them to respect the differences of others in the community.
During their time in our school we will endeavour to ensure that each pupil will have developed into a self-confident young person, ready to take their place in society. We look forward to meeting you and your child when you visit the school whether it is on Open Night, during many of our high-profile activities and events or at information evenings. If you require further information, please do not hesitate to contact the school. We would be delighted to answer your questions.

Best of luck to our Junior and Leaving Certificate students who begin their State Examinations tomorrow. We remind you all to remain calm and remember that each exam is an opportunity to showcase all your learning. We might even keep some parking spaces for certain 6th Year’s!!
Best of luck to Leaving Certificate student Patrick Taaffe, past student Conor Dunican and Offaly U20 hurling panel ahead of today’s All Ireland Final. Offaly take on a very strong Cork team in Thurles at 3pm. Best wishes from everyone in Gallen Community School.
Gallen Community School would like to wish Ms. Ann O’Brien a long and happy retirement. We have no doubt all her past and present students will join with her colleagues in wishing Ann all the best in this new chapter of her life. Farewell but not goodbye Ann.
