LEINSTER JUNIOR LADIES FOOTBALL- GALLEN CS 1-6 HEYWOOD CS 1-0
Gallen emerged victorious in this game played in wet and windy conditions in Moystown last week. Gallen got off to a good start with points from Shauna Heffernan and Kate Kenny.Maria Egan then scored a great goal before Heywood got a goal. Kate Kenny with 3 points and Shauna Heffernan with one point then left the half time score Gallen 1-6 Heywood 1-0. Incredibly there were no scores in the second half as the inclement weather dictated things. LEINSTER JUNIOR B CHAMPIONSHIP – Gallen CS 5-11 Boyne CS 3-7
Well done to our u 16 group who emerged victorious in their group game played in Shannonbridge. The teams were evenly matched in the first half. Gallen scored two goals through Cian Johnson and Cathal Flynn but missed a number of chances. Boyne led by 4 points at half time but Gallen upped their game in the second half and thanks to a hat trick of goals by Cian Johnson ran out comfortable winners. NAOMH CIARAN LADIES CLUB – at the conclusion of the season , this column wants to give special mention to Naomh Ciaran ladies The club completed a clean sweep of titles in Offaly this year, winning u 14 , 15 , 16 , minor , senior league and championship and Leinster Intermediate Finalists. A noteworthy achievement which in this columnist’s opinion makes them Offaly team of the year across all sports.
