SCIFEST- Three different groups of TY students entered Scifest competition in Athlone last Wednesday. Emma Phelan and Celine Camon entered their project on the use of horse “bits” and how they affect performance. Emma and Celine won the Best Communicator Award at the Scifest . This award was sponsored by Newstalk. Thanks to Mrs Hopkins for all her work with our students. Conor Kelly, Donal Ryan and John Mannion took part also with their investigation called “Investigation into Protein Supplements” and Jarlath Stevenson and Jose Luis Rolga investigated how ” Eye Colour Shapes Peoples Abilities”
PRACTICALS – Gallen C.S has been a hive of academic activity these past few weeks as students at Junior and Senior Level have undertaken orals and Practicals in Irish , French , LCVP, Art , Metalwork/ Engineering , Woodwork / Construction, Home Economics and Agricultural Science.
CSPE 2nd YEAR TRIP – our second year Group from the St Patrick’s class led by Mrs Mc Grath visited Tullamore Courthouse on Wednesday last. They learned about democracy and the law which are integral parts of the seven key concepts on the CSPE course.

LOG ON LEARN – for TY continued this week. This is a wonderful concept where people from the local community are mentored by TY students as they strive to attain computer and IT skills.
EXPLORING BUSINESS IN AIT – Last Tuesday a group of our TY ‘s spend the day in AIT exporing difference facets to studying business at third level. They completed a team building exercise and then has interactive workshops on Social Media Marketing, Economics and finance and accounting. They were got a tour of the campus and to see all the facilities..
1st YEAR FOOTBALL BLITZ – well done to our first years who beat St Mels Longford [ 3-3 TO 2-4], Tullamore College and Moate CS in a Leinster Schools blitz held in Moate CS last Thursday.
Cian Johnson and Conor Kenny [2] got goals against St Mels ,. Cian Johnson [2] Daragh Carroll and Cian Darcy got goals v Moate and Cian Johnson again with 2 goals , Cathal o Shea and Jamie Kelly got goals v Tullamore.
