We wish all our students and their families a very Happy New Year .

 CLUNY CENTRE DRAW:  A big Thank you to all our  students, staff, families and friends for supporting our Christmas Raffle which was a great success and raised over €2500 for our Cluny Centre. The first of the 27 prizes went to Gemma Flynn. List of prize winners available in the Cluny Centre.

YOUNG  SCIENTIST  : Two of the student’s entries have been accepted to proceed to the young Scientist Exhibition in the RDS this week . Sophie  Gilson and  Lucy  Egan are working on looking at the perceptions of teenagers who wear makeup . The Sunday Business Post interviewed the girls and a piece features on page 10 of their magazine section  on Sunday 4th January.  Clive Keena and Sean Flynn   are working hard at their projects and their project is featured on the Agriland website from Sat 3rd January. We hope they and their teachers Mrs Killian and Mrs Hopkins enjoy the experience in the RDS.

 

LADIES FOOTBALL LEINSTER SENIOR QUARTER FINAL: GALLEN C.S.  5-7 ATHLONE C.C. 2-12

Gallen snatched victory   from the jaws of defeat with three dramatic goals in injury time from Kate Kenny [penalty], Aoife Corbett and Roisin Egan to book their place in the semi-final v Cross and Passion Kilcullen on Thursday 8th January. Venue not notified to us yet.

NORTH LEINSTER SENIOR B ROUND 1 – GALLEN CS   3-7 ST PETERS   DUNBOYNE 1-9.Gallen minus a few key players, got the  better of   a tough Meath outfit in this hard   fought encounter in Ferbane on Thursday  December 11th.  Gallen got  a goal  from  Brian   mc  Evoy  but  Dunboyne who won the  Meath  Minor  A Championship ,  were  aided  by a  strong wind  got 1-6 to lead 1-6 to 1-2  at half time . Gallen using the elements to their advantage  got  two  goals  from  Cian  Johnson and  Luke  Gavin  Mangan to establish a four point lead  before doggedly defended to emerge  victorious. Gallen  play  Colaiste  Choilm in the quarter final on  January 14.

NORTH  LEINSTER  JUNIOR   B   CHAMPIONSHIP- GALLEN 4-15  COLAISTE  CHOILM  2-13

Gallen ,  minus  a few  key players, qualified for the  quarter final   and   a meeting with   Boyne  CS   or  Moyne CS  by virtue of this victory over Colaiste  Choilm  in a match played in Ferbane on  Monday  December 15th.  Gallen got off to  a good  start  with a  goal  by  Cian  Johnson  but   Col   Choilm  got  a goal to  equalise and then led  by 1-6 to 1-5 but the  game turned when two  quick goals  by  Nathan Poland  gave the  Ferbane lads a lead they wouldn’t relinquish.  They led  by  3-10  to  1-8   at  half time and a goal   by  Kyle  Molloy sealed the  deal. Gallen  could afford to  bring on their  subs  and one of  them ,  Kyle  Cornally  made an instant impact  when he saved  a penalty.
