GALLEN  CS   TY  GROUPS  WIN   OFFALY  ENTERPRISE AND  MINI  COMPANY
AWARDS-
well done to our  TY  Group who achieved  high recognition in     both the  TY  National  Mini  Company held in  Athlone and the Offaly  Enterprise held in  Tullamore. In Athlone they won 2 nd Place for Sustainability and 3rd place for innovation.  In
Tullamore they won a   Special Award for Sustainability.
JUNIOR  RUGBY-Gallen  CS  have a chance to go one  step  further than  their 2008   runners up  position when they  take  to the  field  for the Connacht Junior   Development  final. The  final could  be played in the  Galway  Sports grounds and it will be  against  Colaiste Iognaid or  Clifden CS. Gallen  CS overcame a strong test  against Roscommon  CBS in the semi-final in  Roscommon on Tuesday of last week . Ryan Heavin scored a try and he also converted it and knocked
over a penalty to give the Ferbane lads a 10–0 half time lead. They withstood a strong  challenge from  Roscommon to  hold out 10-3.

TEAM – Ryan  Heavin , Jarlath Stevenson,  Brian  mc  Evoy  , Anthony Seery,  Conor  Owens , Colin Kenny , Kyle  Higgins ,  Dean Guinan, Darren   Buckley,  Conor  Kelly, Alex  Kearns , Michael o Shea ,  Jack Quinn , Jack  Clancy and  Tom  Corcoran.  Best of luck to Conor
Galvin and the team in the final. Dates, times and venues to be fixed next week.

BADMINTON  – hard luck  to our team  which acquitted themselves well
in the  Leinster Finals  in  Baldoyle  , Dublin last  week.

GAA –  hard luck  to our  u 14  girls  who  narrowly  lost  to Sacred  Heart Tullamore in  the   Championship  Blitz.  The girls did fantastic overall, beating Banagher, Clara and Kilbeggan before a missed penalty which hit the post deprived them against Tullamore.

In  addition ,  the  Leinster  Junior  Schools  football semi-final between Gallen  CS  and  Moate CS   will have  been played at  the time of going to press. This game although important in its own
right will aid preparations for the All Ireland semi-final on March 23. Gallen’s opponents in that semi-final will be known today next week.

BASKETBALL–  well  done to our  first years  who beat  Mercy Ballymahon  , hard luck to our  second years who lost to the  same opponents. Sadly our 1st and 2 nd years didn’t make it to the semi-finals but they can be proud of their efforts nonetheless.

LCVP TRIP– thanks to Mrs Bardon and Mr Lenihan who accompanied our 5th years to   visit   Steripack   in Clara.  This experience of watching enterprise in action will serve our students well as they embark on their LCVP Modules.
