“SUPER DISPLAY BY GALLEN CS SEES THEM QUALIFY FOR ALL IRELAND VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS JUNIOR A FOOTBALL FINAL”
Gallen CS made history by qualifying for their first ever All Ireland Junior Vocational Final and a tilt at St Marks Warrenpoint on Saturday week April 6 [ time and venue TBA] by virtue of a comprehensive victory over Munster Champions Coachford
CC in Clonmel on Wednesday last. Gallen were superb particularly in the second half where they outscored Coachford by 4-6 to 1-3. Gallen conceded a goal to Coachford before Mikey Butler crashed the ball to the net for his first goal. Gallen were dealt a blow with the loss through injury of influential midfielder
Kyle Higgins. Kyle , best wishes for a speedy recovery from all at Gallen CS.
The teams were level at the interval but Gallen sprung from the traps in the second half and Dean Hogan smashed home their second goal. Colin Kenny was excellent at midfield and his dead ball kicking was a joy to behold particularly one point from a side-line ball.
The hard working Brian mc Evoy smashed home Gallen’s third goal and further goals from Dean Hogan and Mikey Butler rounded off a comprehensive 5-10 to 2-7 victory. These young men from Ferbane , Belmont , St Rings, Doon , Plough , Shannonbridge and Ballycumber have done their school proud and are wished every success in the Final. Special thanks to Mr KP Egan and Mr Mick Kenny for their work with the team and to Mr Ciaran Doyle whose sterling years of dedicated service in promoting and coaching GAA at second level in Ferbane are now getting much deserved rewards.
