Congratulations to our Junior Footballers who won the Leinster Final with a scintillating display against Granard which you can read in last weeks post. An assembly was held in the school to mark the occasion. Padraig Boland Chairman of the Offaly County Board congratulated the team and their trainer manager Ciaran Doyle. Padraig also complimented the school on all the extracurricular activities that students partake in in Gallen CS. Padraig referenced the Scor team who have qualified for the Leinster Final and the Basketball team who have qualified for the All Ireland u 16 semi-final.
SCOR – Congratulations to our Scor team of Revina Devery , Avril Spain ,
Sarah Kenny, Valene Greer and Zoe Rooney who have qualified for the
LeinsterScor Finals to be held in Finglas on Saturday January12 2013.
They sang “The Broad Majestic Shannon” and “Edward on Lough Erin’s
Shore” in Clonaslee on Saturday week last. Well done to Ms Reynolds
and her team.
PARISH CAROL SERVICE- Thanks to our school choir who participated in the Parish Carol Service in the week before Christmas. They added to the occasion with such festive hymns Emmanuel and O Holy Night to name just two . Members included Ffion Boland , Grainne Kenny , Aoife Coughlan , Joe Maher , Michael Corbett, Avril Spain , Niamh Duffy, Niamh Delaney, Emma Flynn, Stevie Anne Buckley, Emma Maher, Sarah Kenny, Anna Grehan, Laura Kenny , Shelley Dunican , Ciara Casey and Sophie Devery.
SCHOOL CAROL SERVICE
After the last of the Christmas tests were over last Friday 21st the school gathered in the multi propose hall for our carol service, beautifully prepared by Mrs Breen and Ms Reynolds. Following some readings, prayers and carols Mr Irwin wished all the students and staff a very Happy Christmas . We then had some entertainment from a number of students in the school from first to sixth year , who sang, danced and entertained us in a festive spirit.
