A huge thanks to Brendan Clarke and his hard working committee for their generous donation to the Cluny Centre and Cancer Care following the successful Mike Denver concert in the school in November. Presenting the cheque to Sean Dench, Ailish O Connor and Corina Egan was Rory Claffey, past student of the Cluny Centre and whose dad Liam , music promoter assisted in the organising of this concert. Sean and Mrs Finnegan thanked Brendan most sincerely for his efforts and for all who helped in any way in organising and working on the night .
Congratulations to Colin, Harry, Oliver and Enda who participated in Offaly’s Library Transition year annual Battle of wits last week. It was a close contest which saw the lads in the lead for the first four rounds but the competitions was tough on the year and they came in joint third after 10 rounds of questions which came Colaiste Choilm win out on the day.
The Call of the Lonesome Bog- Poems from the Offaly Countryside – Congratulations to Ava Grace Egan in first year for her beautiful illustrations in this book of poetry which her grandfather Brendan Ryan launched in our school two weeks ago. Brendan’s tenth book is a collection of poems spanning from the early 19th century to the present day. Not only is Ava Grace an artist but a poet as she contributes two poems to the collection : The 1916 Easter Rising and The Famine in Ireland . Well done Grace.
