Foroige Leadership for Life awards

Well done to John Dunican in sixth year and two recent past students Julia Morgan and Shelly Dunican for being presented with the Higher Certificate in Youth Leadership and Community Action last weekend in Galway. These young people have had to take on a number of tasks over the past two years in Foroige  to get this award. Thanks to Barbara  Daly  and all in Foroige for their encouragement in providing these students with this opportunity.

Comhrá ’17

Ar an 13 Deireadh Fómhair, ghlac Pobalscoil na Gailinne páirt don dara uair i gComhrá ’17. D’eagraigh Conradh na Gaeilge an feachtas chun an churiarracht don chomhrá is faide as Gaeilge a shárú. Bhí ar dhaltaí sa dara bliain agus sa chúigiú bliain comhrá gan stad ar feadh uair an chloig ar líne. Ghlac scoileanna, ollscoileanna agus grúpaí Gaeilge ó Toronto agus Béising páirt sa churiarracht. D’éirigh linn an churiarracht a shárú agus 171 uair an chloig gan stad de chaint agus comhrá a bhaint amach. Is éacht den scoth é seo agus ní fhéadfaí é a bhaint amach gan rannpháirtíocht agus díograis dhaltaí Phobalscoil na Gailinne.

Comhrá ’16 & Gaeilge 24

On the 13th of October, Gallen Community School took part in Comhrá ’17. Conradh na Gaeilge organised the campaign to break the world record for the longest Irish conversation. Second year and fifth year students held a conversation as Gaeilge for a full hour on-line. Various schools, universities and Irish groups from Toronto to Beijing took part on the day. We succeeded in breaking the record with 171 hours of continuous conversation as Gaeilge. This is a wonderful achievement which could not have been done without the participation and dedication of the pupils of Gallen Community School.

Gallen CS held a very successful Maths week in the school this week. As well as raising awareness of the importance of Mathematics, a number of fun problem solving competitions were held. Further news and pictures of Maths week to follow in later editions.
