Last week was a busy one in school :
Engineer’s week provided Gallen C.S students with a great opportunity to go visit AIT Athlone. The students that attended all study the subjects of Engineering, Design Communication Graphics, Construction Studies and Physics at secondary school. Students were provided with a talk on engineering and the possible careers and courses on offer at AIT. The pupils were very impressed with the high tech workshops and were provided with demonstrations on the use of CNC machines, 3D printers, plastic moulding machines and tool making machines.
Also during last week students and teachers from Rashina NS visited Gallen CS to see what the school had to offer in the field of Engineering. Mrs. Finnegan gave a presentation to primary pupils on Engineering and the roles Engineers have within our society. Engineering teacher Mr. Doyle then provided pupils with the opportunity to get hands on. Pupils manufactured acrylic Egg Holders. The students really enjoyed the experience because they got to use tools and machines. Pupils all got to bring home their beautiful Egg holders.
Fifth and sixth year agricultural students went to a visit to Gurteen and got to see a working farm.
