Naómh Ciáran Ladies Football Club present donation for Cluny Centre in Gallen CS Ferbane.

Members and supporters of Naomh Ciáran Ladies Football Club undertook a 90-100 km sponsored walk over the May Bank Holiday weekend to raise funds for their club and for the Cluny Centre in Gallen Community School.  On Saturday  5th they started off the walk from Carbury on the Offaly Kildare border and walked to Clara . On Sunday they walked from Clara to the far side off the bridge in Shannonbridge, thus crossing the county line of Roscommon.  They raised a massive total of  €5,626.34 .

Last Thursday  morning  we were delighted to welcome Tom Fitzmaurice, John Dunican, Sue Egan, Carmel Flynn, KP Egan, Annette Corcoran, Martha Boylan  and Paudge Malone  to the Cluny Centre to meet some of the students and staff and learn more about the activities the students engage in. Nikita one of our third year students in the Cluny Centre participated in  the sponsored walk and received a special gift from the Ladies Football club in recognition for her great sffort. After some light refreshments and a chat , Nikita and club members  presented a cheque for €2813.17 to the school.  In accepting this generous donation  and expressing their  thanks, Mr Irwin and Mrs Finnegan  spoke about how this money would be used to continue in maintaining speech and  language therapy and occupational  therapy services for these students over the next academic year. We were delighted more members of the local community got to see first -hand some of the work  that the staff  do in the Cluny Centre  and meet some of the students.  Students presented flower pots they had prepared to members of the committee to show their thanks also.
