Researching UCAS courses.

Researching courses in England , Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland

( This guide is to assist students and parents who want to start researching courses independently, a  full demonstration & explanation will be given to interested fifth and or sixth years in school.)

Go to www.ucas.com

Click “Search for courses”

Fill in Green box looking for information on where you normally live, year of application, course, provider, location.

E.g, Elsewhere in EU, 2015, nursing, leave provider blank because this is why you are searching, london or scotland etc

Click “Search”

List of Providors comes up with all the possible courses.

Click on blue heading to bring you to information page about that course

This information page is very important, read all of it well. Click on Entry requirements to see if certain grades in Irish L Cert are required (usually scroll down to view this at end of the right tab).

On this same page if you click on “How to Apply”  , you will get codes for course and institution that you will need if applying to ucas.

On the Summary Page  you can click on the  university website  to get more  information

The email for the admissions officer for the particular university is also listed there.

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE TIME NEEDED TO REALLY RESEARCH COURSES IN THE UK . APPLICATION TO UCAS IS FAR MORE TIME CONSUMING FOR YOU AND FOR ME THAN CAO , SO ONLY APPLY IF IT IS A SERIOUS OPTION FOR YOU . DISCUSS WITH  YOUR PARENTS HOW REALISITIC THIS MAY BE FOR YOU, INCLUDE FINANCIAL , TRAVEL AND OTHER CONSIDERATIONS .
